{"id":85,"date":"2015-06-23T03:16:13","date_gmt":"2015-06-23T03:16:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/allianceregistrars.com\/?page_id=85"},"modified":"2018-06-04T00:49:02","modified_gmt":"2018-06-04T04:49:02","slug":"press","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/allianceregistrars.com\/?page_id=85","title":{"rendered":"ISO News"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 dir=\"ltr\">\u00a0ISO 45001 &#8211; Occupational health and safety<\/h2>\n<div class=\"col-md-12\">\n<div class=\"clear\">\u00a0Over 7 600 people die each day from work-related accidents or diseases &#8211; that\u2019s over 2.78 million every year<sup>*<\/sup>.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-md-7\">\n<p>The burden of occupational injuries and diseases is significant, both for employers and the wider economy, resulting in losses from early retirements, staff absence and rising insurance premiums.<\/p>\n<p>To combat the problem, ISO has developed a new standard, ISO\u00a045001,\u00a0<em>Occupational health and safety management systems &#8211; Requirements,\u00a0<\/em>that will help organizations reduce this burden by providing a framework to improve employee safety, reduce workplace risks and create better, safer working conditions, all over the world.<\/p>\n<p>The standard was developed by a committee of occupational health and safety experts, and follows other generic management system approaches such as ISO\u00a014001 and ISO\u00a09001. This makes them easier, cheaper and quicker for those companies who use more than one, not to mention helping out the auditors.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Who was responsible for the revision?<\/strong><\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">The revision was conducted by an ISO technical committee called ISO\/TC 207\/SC 1, which is comprised of experts nominated by their National Standards Bodies and liaison organizations. What does this mean for me? <\/strong><\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">Organizations are granted a three-year transition period after the revision has been published to migrate their environmental management system to the new edition of the standard. After this transition period, companies that opt for third party certification will have to seek certification to the new version of the standard. The former version, ISO 14001:2004, and any certification to it, will be out of date.
